May 14, 2003 - Offloading some content...

Spitfire

Well - it's time to offload a shitpile of content, because I haven't done so in quite awhile and it's really piling up. If you're looking for info on the Eagle Creek trip, see the previous update for a map. Nothing is changing, everyone is welcome. See you there!

Before I get to the content, I'd like to mention that my friend Colin managed to find his bike (after the big party last thursday). By tracing the route he 'should have' taken home he managed to come across a few apartment buildings that looked familiar - and behind one of them was his (very muddy) bike - still intact, with the exception of a slightly warped rear tire. I said it before and I'll say it again - good times.

It seems that people have gotten bored with the 'make your own comic' feature, as I haven't received a 'quality' comic for some time now. Yes, I have been receiving the odd craptacular shitpiece of unoriginal 'art' - but most have not been worth putting up at all. NO MORE COMICS OF STICK PEOPLE SIMPLY THROWING UP. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! Anyhow, I am hereby challenging The Saint to send in a comic of Jedi proportions!

Better take a look at this article about instituting regular porn shows in old age homes. Hope I can look forward to this when I end up in one!

Here's a picture I'm sure everyone will enjoy. It's funny because it's true. I also think that this picture is hillarious. Mostly because it reminds me of Dog Pound. It's probably because the guy is smoking.

Alright there you go. If you need more entertainment please swing by the forums or visit one of my affiliates: _SPACE_, Photogeek, 71malibu.com, DogPound Land, Popcorn Pimpin', and Regland. Wow, my little RBlords family is growing...I can remember when it was just *this* big. Oh wait you can't see me, never mind.

May 12, 2003 - Eagle Creek

Spitfire

Ok, the may long weekend is coming up quickly - only a few more days actually. So those who haven't heard yet, we are going to Eagle Creek for sure. My plan was to make out a map to put on rblords, but my problem is that I haven't been there for quite awhile either so I don't know EXACTLY where it is. However with a roadmap and the directions it should be very easy to find. Digest this:

Eagle Creek is located 35km West of Saskatoon on Hwy #14 and 22km North on Hwy #376.
Click here for a basic map showing you the directions.

You'll notice I didn't mark exactly where Eagle Creek is on that map, and that is because I'm not entirely sure. However make sure you remember this: Once you turn off of highway 14 (thats the highway that comes out of 22nd street) and onto highway 376, STAY ON THE PAVED ROADS. There will be numerous gravel roads but don't take them, there are paved roads all the way to Eagle Creek. So as long as you stay on HW376 you will eventually see signs, it really shouldn't be a big deal.

Make sure to brush up on your RTC skillz - we've got a new lake/creek to conquer! For questions/discussion about the may long weekend make sure to take a look at the Discussion Forums. See you all at the lake!

May 09, 2003 - Texas Mickey Party

Spitfire

Talk about one massive drunk gong show - I attended my first ever 'Texas Mickey' party last night (yeah, a thursday) - what crazy time that was. This party was to celebrate the end of the regular season hockey draft - and consisted of 7 other guys from work, and myself. Let me try and walk through some of the more entertaining happenings...read this if you have time, its pretty entertaining

5:30

Everyone shows up to the party, we throw some steaks on the BBQ and crack open the TM (Crown Royal). Darrin (the host) pours glasses for all 8 of us - each glass is 1/3 to 1/2 rye with just a bit of coke for color. Personally, this is not how I am used to drinking rye. Add to this the rule that nobody is allowed to pour another drink until EVERYONE is finished theirs. So basically one person finishes their drink, and the rest of the people chug theirs so that you don't slow down the rest of the party. 2 hours = 1 empty texas mickey (3 drinks for each person - those were STIFF drinks). So then an extra 40 gets cracked and theirs more whiskey floating around, people are drinking it like water now (myself included) because we're so drunk we can't tell the difference.

10:30

After a few hours of drunk foosball, drunk darts, drunk keyboard playing and half-ass watching the Canucks get worked Darrin announces that his wife will be home shortly and we have to get out. Scott, the only one not drinking, storms out of the place pissed off because his team lost and the rest of us are basically being abnoxious morons to him (ie. punching him and tripping him everywhere he goes). After what must have been a half hour of trying to find jackets and shoes, we're all on the front lawn (except me and Darrin who are on my car roof). Each one of us is also completely pissed and the rest of the night (as I know it) has been pieced together from what each of us could remember seperately.

As we're standing around trying to come up with a way to get to Whiskey Jacks because Scott was our ride (Darrin lives in East College park, east of boychuk) - I tell everyone that the key is in the ignition of my car. I then remembered that Scott wasn't around, and none of us were in any condition to drive - but before I could even think about this Neil, Darrin and Arron are driving off in my car with one door open and all over the road. This aint good - on the upside this was my Monaco and I couldn't care less what happens to the car - on the downside it is totally not cool that these farm boys are driving around this corked in a big car. Anyhow, they were gone.

The rest of us - Dave, myself, Colin, Rat and Chris attempt to walk to Whiskey Jacks - except Rat and Dave go the right way, and Chris, Colin and myself head north for some reason. Once we hit the highway we walked through somebody's fence and headed down the alley to McKercher - but we lost Colin somehow. Colin had been riding beside us on his bike but he suddenly dissapeared with no trace. Chris and myself proceeded to find McKercher and walk all the way to Whiskey Jacks.
11:30?

As we approach Whiskey Jacks I see my Monaco parked across two stalls diagnally with the ass-end blocking traffic, and Aaron, Neil and Darrin are inside trying to convince the bouncer that they really aren't too drunk to come in. Needless to say, they turned us ALL away on account of us being too drunk. At this point still no sign of Dave, Rat or Colin (the one with the bike). We go to JTs instead (next door) and walk right in and sit down.

Aaron pulls the 40 out of his jacket and plops it down on the table...I thought this would be a problem but the waitress thought it was quite funny. We all order beers (which is odd for me - I hate beer. I think I had a Canadian, the farm boys had Pill). What REALLY surprised me is that throughout the night various bar hoochies came and sat down at our table and hit on us. This is not something I am used to at bars at all, and I really have no idea why in hell these girls would be interested in us dirty (literally, we fell in the alley a lot), slurring drunks but they did. They kept saying something about wanting to work at the city as data entry clerks?!?

12:30

Darrin decides he's "getting the fuck out of here" after a lengthy discussion about how much he weighs and how other guys are intimidated by him (he's a big boy) - I follow him out, leaving Chris and Neil to continue flirting with the bar hoochies who have slowly taken over our table. I walk all the way home (which was quite the walk)...last I heard Neil was calling a cab and Darrin had walked home. I think Chris went home with one of the bar hoochies which is his regular routine. Still no sign of Rat, Dave or Colin.

This morning

Woke up in bed...good I made it home. Not hung over either, I think I'm still a little drunk. Time to go to work! I seem to now own a nice pair of Caterpiller shoes with no shoe laces - my heels hurt like hell and I have the key to the Monaco in my pocket, but the Monaco is nowhere to be seen. Which makes sense because I vaguely remember the long walk home. I come to work and Colin is nowhere to be found, in fact he didn't even call in sick. I'd have to wait until 1:00 before I'd hear from him again. Rat is here and doesn't remember a whole lot - except that Dave and him had walked to Whiskey Jacks and when they couldn't get in Rat walked back to Darrin's to get his bike and Dave took off to 'walk' home (he lives across the river - he would never make it).

To make a long story a little bit shorter - Dave made it about as far as Acadia at which point he saw the Great Canadian Oil Change and freaked out because he thought he was on 22nd street. He then figured it would be a good idea to stand on 8th street and try to wave down cars to give him a ride home - unfortunately one of them was a cop who arrested him and through him in the drunk tank. With my shoes!!

Colin has the most interesting story of all. His mind is almost a complete blank between 10:30 and 2:00AM when he remembers bringing his bike inside and going to bed. Only problem is that it's not his bike. His brand new mountain bike has somehow transformed into a 70s style rusty 10 speed bike with curled handle bars. As near as he can remember, he got lost trying to find his way back to Darrin's - and ended up at somebody else's house (which he thought was Darrin's). His idea was to get his backpack out of the garage, so he put down his bike and proceeded to try and get in as the owner of the house was screaming out her window at him. He assumed this was Darrin's wife and thought nothing of it. He figures after spending a fair amount of time in the backyard trying to think of a way to get into the garage, and stopping to piss on the lawn, he found this shitty bike and jumped on it. Pretty good trade for them.

He also remembers stopping by an apartment thinking it was his girlfriend's apartment (even though she lives in Regina). He buzzed the buzzer until somebody finally answered, and then still not convinced he proceeds to camp outside the apartment window for a long time yelling for his girlfriend until some old man in a robe shows up and tells him to fuck off. Aside from that, he remembers nothing and really wants to know where his bike is. He also figures he must have taken a few spills as he's covered in bruises, had a big cut on his chin and a very messed up blue toenail.

I found my car still parked at Whiskey Jacks today with a mickey of crown royal, 2 Litres of coke and a set of keys on the front seat. It's also completely out of gas.

And thats it (so far). I still haven't talked to Scott, Neil, Arron or Darrin so we'll see if they can add to this already quite hilarious night. I can't say I'm overly impressed with the fact that somebody was driving my car while hammered out of their tree like that, but other than that there was no harm done. Well, other than a lost bike I guess. And I somehow woke up without a hangover, so hey. As JayB would say: Good times, good times.

So this is what happens when you drink like a farm boy!

May 05, 2003 - The May Long weekend controversy...

Spitfire

About time for another update - as people keep emailing me about the whole May long weekend fiasco, guess I should keep everyone posted on what little I know. Holy crap! only a week and a half left!

According to our poll it looks like we will most likely be going to Eagle Creek this year. This will of course be a bit of a change from our traditional Pike Lake trip, so keep posted for a map and other information coming soon if this is where we end up going (most likely). I'm hoping this will not effect the amount of people attending this year, but I know that everyone who matters will be there. And that means YOU!

Another point of interest about the May Long weekend is that our good friend Kujo will not only be gracing us with his presence, but will be considering Saturday night (May 17th) his official bachelor party. Of course this will be a little bit unconventional as we are certainly not expecting all of the girls to vacate the campground - we just need to really focus on getting Kujo pissed out of his tree - and that shouldn't be a problem.

Of course remember to express your concerns either way on the new Discussion Forum. Also, feel free to redicule Dog Pound on the forums - I think he needs it. Once you've done that you may also take a look at today's terrible comic. Did I say terrible? I meant awful. I mean what happened to plot and suspense?!?!?

In a short discussion with The Saint the other day, it was revealed that he will likely have to miss yet another May Long weekend trip. When asked why, he said something along the lines of "too many babies". However, he did express his opinion that if he were to choose a lake to go to, he would be vouching for Eagle Creek. So there you have it - The Saint has spoken.

Other important announcements today include the official lauch of Blue4130's new webpage - photogeek.ca. Make sure to give it a look - which reminds me, I need to get a cam portal set up. Damnit, too much to do on this webpage and too little interest. At least there are new webpages popping up everywhere to keep you guys entertained in the meantime!

So thats it for now, so just remember - when things get tough, just Give 'er!

PS - If you're wondering what's so special about that picture up above - click on it, then take a good look at the sign in the back :)

Apr 27, 2003 - My Hollidays are over

Spitfire

Holy crap did this past week fly by! Isn't that always the way with hollidays? And not a single update either....sheesh.

So here's a small one. I managed to get a lot of 'spring cleaning' done around the house on my week off, including finishing a few projects that I had left unfinished last summer (adding railings to the deck, painting the fence, etc). Overall, mixed with the AWESOME weather we had - I'm quite pleased with what I've accomplished!

BUT - there's one major issue that has to be resolved, and people keep asking me over and over: "Where the hell are we going for the may long weekend this year?". Good question, here's my take on it:

I personally have nothing against revisiting Pike Lake this year - it is tradition, and personally the 'trouble' we've had with the COs in the past hasn't really bothered me. After all, they have still yet to successfully kick us out - however I know that some people nonetheless felt that the weekend was ruined by having to worry about being kicked every night. SO, this year we have an option. The Pike Lake trip every spring has always been based around a single purpose: getting as many people together as possible and having a good time to kick-start the summer. Pike Lake was chosen because of its close proximity to Saskatoon - ensuring that the maxiumum amount of people could make it out, even if just for a single night.

Another option we have is Eagle Creek, which is about twice as far (still not that bad - about 40 minutes from the west side of Saskatoon). The plus side to Eagle Creek is that it is a regional park, which means it will be cheaper. Also, from what I hear they are quite a bit more accepting of parties on long weekends out there, but there are certainly no guarantees. The bad part? For people working on the weekend this will also mean for a slightly longer commute. Also it's a bit harder to give directions to get to, but I'm sure we could figure that out. There is also not really a lake, or a place to swim (although it has been VERY rare when it has been warm enough at Pike Lake to swim anyway - but some people prefer a lake to a 'creek'). Overall Eagle Creek is a much nicer looking place in my opinion..

We could also go to Wakaw lake campground. Wakaw is 50 minutes from the EAST side of Saskatoon, and is also a Regional park just like Eagle Creek. Personally I think Eagle creek is a better choice based on distance, and just a nicer campground.

So...it's time for a poll. Drop by the new Discussion Board to vote! Oh yeah, there's a new discussion board - if you're used to the one over at Demoni.ca then you'll feel at home on this one because its basically identical. Go speak your voice. And for those who care - I've moved the old webboard into the 'Old Content' section.

Oh, I should also mention that I just took a look at the bandwidth usage reports for the rblords web server. Apparently rblords.com and its associated pages have been sending out around 10-15 GIGS of data each month, thats getting pretty big considering surprisingly little of that is actual video files. RBlords is the busiest of all of these pages (about 10GIG/month), followed by _SPACE_'s page (~600megs/month), followed by 71malibu.com (about 100megs/month), followed by Regland (~10megs/month). The rest of the hosted pages pull in less than 10megs/month - but I thought this was pretty interesting nonetheless! Cheers!

Apr 15, 2003 - Area man is dead, but don't tell anyone

Spitfire

I think this cat ate a dog! First off - it was nice to see the demoni.ca crew in Saskatoon for the weekend. We made it out to YC's birthday on Friday (happy bday YC!) and also hung around on Saturday and had a few drinks. Surprisingly nothing was destroyed - except for the red reclining chair that has been sitting beside my garbage in the alley ever since the hot tub party! I'm very glad to be rid of that...

Second - the late Blue4130 is dead. Stone dead. To find out why, read my funeral dedication poem on demoni.ca. Why is it there if I wrote it? Because apparently Unit3 is faster at scooping up news than I am, EVEN MY OWN NEWS!!! Well - how's this for news: Man burns own penis while using laptop. And guess what? Even the blondes are against the war now!!

New comic today by our beloved !zebu! - who incidently will be moving away overseas shortly. Did I already mention that? It's hard for me to remember - I'm so flustered!

I would also like to point out for those of you who don't keep up on _SPACE_'s website - it seems she is siding with YC on the issue of the toilet paper (which he posted awhile back).
Hey, that reminds me - I thought YC was going to be making an update. Come on guys! Pick up the pace :)

Not much else new - except that it was nice to see that last dump of snow finally dissapear, although the current forcast seems to be calling for more tomorrow (can you believe it?). All this spring time warmth has reminded me that I need to do some yardwork this spring - quite a bit of it. Besides finishing off the deck - which shouldn't take too long - I need to actually grow a lawn in the backyard, and perhaps replace the front yard as well. Oh well - I've got all next week off so I guess (weather permitting) I'll be doing it then! So that means if any of you are off work for some reason, feel free to stop by and visit.

Aaaaaaaaand that's it. Keep sending in that content - and drawing comics! It makes less work for me!

Apr 09, 2003 - The young YC grows one year not-as-young...

Spitfire

You know what's stupid? Orphans. Yeah, you heard me.

What? Androids? Well - you guys have been sending in requests for android content for the past 3 years, and although I don't have any to give you - Kujo does. So check out this page if you'd like to build/buy your own android, or perhaps if you are simply interested in the science behind 'android building'. This probably won't interest dark overlords such as The Saint who are already in possesion of vast android armies - but for the 'android enthusiast', it might just be what you've been waiting for. Somewhere on that page there is a link to Robo-Saurus - the 2 million dollar car/jet eating robotic dinosaur. I can't think of anything better to lead an android army into battle!

Some more content from Kujo - I'm not quite sure what to say about this one. Looks like a Japanese penis festival to me, but maybe I'm missing something?!? Somebody please fill me in!!

And last but not least - here's a nifty waterproof/shockproof/fireproof laptop which I'm sure Blue4130 will want now.

No new comic today, in fact that's it. Current events? YC has moved into his new mansion! I won't say much more because I have requested that he make his own update once he has everything in order. Today is also his birthday so make sure to send him your birthday wishes, and acknowledge that YC has, as Audiophile says, grown one year not-as-young.
