I find that a little hard to believe, my Supra has beaten a new Turbo Talon before and I really doubt it could run a 12 second 1/4 mile. (without mods that is).
That and my girlfriends brother-inlaw has a VERY high-output 454 Chevy Malibu he did up which is now getting into the high 12 seconds, and that thing is freakin damn fast!
