If you look far enough back you can trace any modern day civilization from a foundation of religion. If it weren't for religion as a driving force in those times, we may never have evolved to where we are today. I realize that the 'discovery of america', and other modern examples are differnt...its a sad day for religion right now indeed. People have as a whole become skeptical and paranoid, and we are in an age now where people aren't afraid to question what they don't understand.
Let it also be said that in general people are often afraid of what they can not understand, and the existance of god is a prime example of this.
And by the way, you did say "The majority of the world's population doesn't share your views, so why should he? " which sounds a lot to me like you are saying the majority of the world does not share religious views, which is wrong. Don't tell me to RE-READ what you typed, I know exactly what you said.
