: If you look far enough back you can trace any modern day civilization from a foundation of religion. If it weren't for religion as a driving force in those times, we may never have evolved to where we are today.
This may be true, but I think it was due more to forceful religious leaders telling people what to do than a group of people united in a common belief which led them to their actions.
: Let it also be said that in general people are often afraid of what they can not understand, and the existance of god is a prime example of this.
Bleh.. I'm not afraid of the existance of god(s). In fact it would greatly reassure me. I'm just the kind of person who needs proof before I can believe, and so I have a hard time understanding people who don't.
: And by the way, you did say "The majority of the world's population doesn't share your views, so why should he? " which sounds a lot to me like you are saying the majority of the world does not share religious views, which is wrong. Don't tell me to RE-READ what you typed, I know exactly what you said.
Whoops.. okay, that could be misinterpreted like it was. I meant to point out that the majority of the world isn't Christian, or in fact *any* specific religion. It was another rebuttal for that annoying "are you feeling left out of society?" statement. I didn't actually mean to say the majority of the world wasn't religious. :)
