Thanks for your honesty YC. That's all I have to say. Interesting view.
: Your take on that is more the religous view on it. The way I see it my life started, and "I" started when my parents conceived me, and I believe that when I die that's the end of it, no more me. It would kinda be hipocrytical for me to say otherwise at this point.

: : Oddly enough... I agree with you on the time issue. I believe time has always been and time always will be. I have one problem though. I believe that my life has a start and has an end. Wait a minute... I am thinking out loud here and I am mistaken. I believe life does not have a beginning and does not have an end. I always have been and I always will be, just the form of my existence changes. At this point in my existence I am a human on earth. My existence in human form began when I was born, but I always have been. How do you feel on this issue?
: : : Alright, now your gonna break me out into one of my phylosophical theories.
: : : Time is just a measurement that people came up with to measure time, just like a ruler. I don't believe that there necesarrily was a beginning of time, nothing says there HAS to be a beginning and an end, time can go on forever. Take a sphere, tell me where the beginning and end of it are, you can't because none exist. I believe time could be much the same way. Life as well, nobody has ever considered that maybe life didn't just start up one day, I believe it always has existed and through evolution we are where we are today.

: : : : Where do you think the earth came from? Where did life originate?
: : : :
: : : : : The answer to your question is that I do not see life and existance as something that is earned, but something that is a gift given to me by the love of my parents. It is they, after all, who created me.

: : : : : : I have a question for you YC: you state you are an atheist and that everything you have gotten is because you have earned it. How did you earn your existence? How did you earn your life? I'm not being insulting, I'm actually just curious.
: : : : : : : Actually, I do have a strong set of beliefs that I hold on to quite strongly. I am an atheist and that's just how it is. Also, why SHOULDN'T I want proof of a god before I believe in it. You could tell me you have a 67 corvette with a 427 that does the 1/4 mile in 8 seconds and I would say your full of shit until you proved it to me, why should it be any different for god.
: : : : : : : I say that if you believe in god just because the majority of society does then YOU are the week one (not you travis, anybody who believes just to conform).
: : : : : : : Also, I am constantly hammered and badgered by people about religion, it's everywhere and involved in everything, especially christianity, so why shouldn't I be able to talk about my beliefs too???
: : : : : : : And for the record, yes I do believe that i've gotten through everything in my life so far with NO influence what so ever from a "greater power" and I believe that the rest of my life will be the same. I believe that when we die we die, there is no "after life", and I can't stand it when somebody works hard for something, and when they get it they thank god for it, they are the ones who worked hard for it why should they be thanking god for it?
: : : : : : : By the way I do understand others beliefs and ideas, I had to do that before I could form my own so don't expect mine to change any time soon.
: : : : : : : And one last harra, if your so sure that my life has been influenced by a greater power, prove it. I won't discredit you or not believe you a bit if you can give me one good piece of evidence to prove it.
: : : : : : : YC
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : You know YC, I just gotta ask, why all the ranting and raving about religion anyway?
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Are you feeling left out of society because you have no faith in a greater power?
: : : : : : : : Why is it you keep beating the same dead horse all the time?
: : : : : : : : Why is it you require physical, tangible proof of the existence of a God or a greater place beyond our physical existence?
: : : : : : : : It takes a strong person to hold onto their beliefs and persevere, especially in the world as it is. But it takes an awfully weak and ignorant one to turn a blind eye and believe that they themselves are the greatest power in the universe.
: : : : : : : : If you think for two seconds that you get by all the troubles the world throws at you by yourself without some influence or help by a greater power, you're sadly mistaken, and I really feel sorry for you.
: : : : : : : : I don't mean this in an insulting fashion YC, I just think that one day you'll have something happen that's going to open your eyes, and you'll see why others and I think the way we do.
: : : : : : : : I'm not saying you should run out and become a born-again Christian, but maybe just try to understand our ideas and beliefs a little before pounding some of this mindless prattle out on the keyboard.
